Charlie and the cat are a great pair – Charlie still worships Eli and Eli still has very much the upper hand. The three of us go for walks every morning and evening, and if Charlie and I go out early before Eli has come home from his night of prowling, he meets up with us down in the meadows.

Today it got to well over 100 degrees, too hot even to stay in the cabin, so we all went outside in search of relief. I stretched out in the horse trough, Eli lounged under a tree, and Charlie sat in the mud eating watermelon. Quite the threesome.
