☆ Daisy, pregnant cow extraordinaire, is having her baby!!!! ☆
The BIG question: boy or girl? male or female? bull or heifer?
Leave your guess in the comment section!
After the birth - and once things calm down - I will randomly select one person with the correct guess and that person will receive a very special prize (because this is a very special event).
One entry per person please! I may not know if you cheated, but you will, and that takes the fun out of it, doesn’t it?!
☆ I know I’ll be asked what I’m hoping for ~ a male calf or a female calf ~ and what I’m really hoping for is a live calf, and one that survives. Daisy loves being a mother and I want her to have that opportunity more than anything. It’s nerve-wracking to have her calve this time of year. (She was bred when I bought her so I had no choice in the matter.)
Beyond that ~ at first, I was hoping for a heifer calf (female). Because then she would grow up to be a dairy cow, too! I thought if Daisy had a male calf, it would be destined for Charlie’s belly. BUT! THEN! I had an idea!
One of my far-off dreams has been to have a team of horses to help me do farm work ~ tilling the fields I don’t yet own, feeding hay from a wagon or sleigh pulled by the team…. more connection to time, animals, and earth; less dependency on gasoline.
And I realized, if Daisy births a boy, I can raise him as a steer (castrated male) and he will be my Plow Cow! Hurrah!!! {My my, I keep going further back in time, and keep accumulating animals… and I love it…..}
So, I will be thrilled with either. But I can’t wait to see your guesses!

Female!
December 18th, 2009 at 9:57 am

December 18th, 2009 at 9:59 am
I’m all for the alive and well, either, but my guess would be.. heifer.
December 18th, 2009 at 9:59 am
I bet it’s a girl!!
December 18th, 2009 at 9:59 am
Let’s go with a male! Love the idea of a plow cow.
December 18th, 2009 at 10:00 am

Have you thought up names yet?
December 18th, 2009 at 10:12 am
The kids and I vote for a female.

December 18th, 2009 at 10:14 am
My guess is a girl!
December 18th, 2009 at 10:15 am
I’m guessing that it will be a boy. Good luck!
December 18th, 2009 at 10:15 am
a boy baby. he will be spoiled and doted over by daisy. Then he will grow up and have his jewels removed and tethered to a plow…this story just took an unfortunate watership down turn. I think I’ll change my vote to a girl baby. Just messin’ with you. My dog and 2 cats are de-jeweled, and if I could make use of them they would all be tethered to the vacuum cleaner, the lawn mower, the tiller etc…Hope Daisy has an uneventful delivery!
December 18th, 2009 at 10:16 am
I think she’ll have a little girl!!
Either way, I hope they’re both healthy!
December 18th, 2009 at 10:16 am
congrats and good luck!! I guess a pretty little girl, may I suggest “Violet” to go with Daisy?
December 18th, 2009 at 10:16 am
I’m thinkin’ girl, too. Can’t wait to find out!!!
December 18th, 2009 at 10:18 am
Is she carrying it high or low? My blind guess will be a heifer.
December 18th, 2009 at 10:18 am
Daisy is going to have a winter “rose”
(girl!)
December 18th, 2009 at 10:19 am
I think that Daisy will have a little male calf. Congraulations and good luck! Keep adding to the farmily! We love it!
December 18th, 2009 at 10:19 am
I’m thinking it’ll be a boy.
But in any case, I hope your early Christmas present is warm, happy and healthy, and that Daisy rests well and enjoys being a mama!!!
December 18th, 2009 at 10:20 am
I think girl! I’m an OB/RN and am right oh about 50% of the time! HA

December 18th, 2009 at 10:23 am
Bouncing baby bovine BOY
Congratulations!
December 18th, 2009 at 10:23 am
Let’s see….my guess is a boy! Hope all goes well for momma.
December 18th, 2009 at 10:24 am
I believe it will be a girl who will grow up to be as beautiful as her mother. Healing, Love and Light to bless and strengthen all of you.
December 18th, 2009 at 10:26 am
I think you’ve got a sweet little girl coming! Hope all goes well. What a great Christmas gift!
December 18th, 2009 at 10:26 am
I’m voting for a bull - I want to see blog entries of how the plowing goes next spring!
Shreve - my thoughts are with you and Daisy. Keep warm and keep calm.
December 18th, 2009 at 10:28 am
Heifer!!!
December 18th, 2009 at 10:29 am
Ah, the farm life, how I miss it. I’d love to get back to it some day. But that aside, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for that plow cow, so a boy. Either way, this would not be a fun time of year to be calving but here’s hoping Mother Nature gives you both a break.
Veselé Vánoce a hodně štěstí. Merry Christmas and good luck.
December 18th, 2009 at 10:29 am
I think a little girl - named Holly for Christmas!
December 18th, 2009 at 10:29 am
A healthy little boy (bull)!
You and Daisy will be in my thoughts today! What a wonderful holiday gift!
December 18th, 2009 at 10:31 am
I hope it is a girl!!!
i will be thinking of the two of you today. hope everything goes very smooth! ew..that came out wrong! haha
December 18th, 2009 at 10:33 am
It’s gotta be an adora-BULL. Name him Herald (Hark! The Herald Angels Sing…!) if born around Christmas…
Happiest of holidays to you and your farmily.
December 18th, 2009 at 10:35 am
A girl! A girl!
Good luck!
December 18th, 2009 at 10:37 am
I hope it’s a happy health girl.

December 18th, 2009 at 10:37 am
a boy
Best wishes
December 18th, 2009 at 10:38 am
I think that she’ll have a beautiful baby girl - with extra long eyelashes!
December 18th, 2009 at 10:40 am
a girl. of course.
December 18th, 2009 at 10:40 am
A boy!
December 18th, 2009 at 10:41 am
I hope it’s a bull. So I’m guessing it’ll be a heifer. (That’s how my world turns.)
At any rate, I hope it’s healthy!
December 18th, 2009 at 10:41 am
My guess is for male, but I hope whatever Daisy has is healthy. I can’t wait to see pictures!
December 18th, 2009 at 10:41 am
a little baby girl of course
December 18th, 2009 at 10:42 am
I’m totally horrible with gender-guessing. I SWORE I was having a girl and poof, it turned out I had a boy (whom I love to pieces).
So I vote you’re having a she-calf. A girl. A princess of the pasture.
December 18th, 2009 at 10:43 am
Girl! And a healthy one at that! And keep her warm! You’re right, bad time of year, although calving does start in a month in the Dakotas.
December 18th, 2009 at 10:44 am
I’m going with a bouncing baby boy. Good luck!
December 18th, 2009 at 10:45 am
My guess is a bouncing baby bull.
December 18th, 2009 at 10:45 am
Girl!
December 18th, 2009 at 10:45 am
The cow gods saw how much you loved fresh butter–it will be a girl!
December 18th, 2009 at 10:45 am
Girl, girl, girl! And only because I’ve always wanted a milk cow of my own.
December 18th, 2009 at 10:47 am
HEIFER HEIFER HEIFER HEIFER!
December 18th, 2009 at 10:47 am
heifer! congrats on the new addition to the farmily!
December 18th, 2009 at 10:48 am
baby steer! I think she’s due for a boy!!!
December 18th, 2009 at 10:48 am
Holy Cow - it’s hard to pick!
I’m guessing it will be a boy - with a respecta-bull name like Winter (first actual day of winter is Monday although I’m sure it started a month ago in Wyoming). Or Murray - like Murray Christmas.
Best wishes and Murray, I mean, Merry Christmas!!
December 18th, 2009 at 10:48 am
Female…
December 18th, 2009 at 10:49 am
Girl! Hang in there, mamas!
December 18th, 2009 at 10:51 am
girl
December 18th, 2009 at 10:51 am
Girl - good luck to both of you!
December 18th, 2009 at 10:52 am
She’s having a boy.
December 18th, 2009 at 10:53 am
I’m guessing girl…GOOD LUCK!!
December 18th, 2009 at 10:56 am
Just to see more of the words “plow cow” I will guess a male.
December 18th, 2009 at 10:56 am
A girl! Good luck!
December 18th, 2009 at 10:56 am
Ohhhh Daisy! I am guessing it will be a heifer!
December 18th, 2009 at 10:56 am
I’m guessing it’s a girl-cow. Good luck, Daisy!
December 18th, 2009 at 10:56 am
I’ll say bull. But most important I hope it is happy and healthy.
December 18th, 2009 at 10:56 am
boy
December 18th, 2009 at 10:57 am
Bull..
December 18th, 2009 at 10:57 am
I am thinking a Baby Bull. I wish both of them HEALTH and good luck!! You go Daisy. Happy Holidays!!
December 18th, 2009 at 10:58 am
I’m guessing a little girl. Either one will be lucky to have your care and love.
Good luck and can’t wait to see some baby pictures!
December 18th, 2009 at 10:58 am
A girl.
Assuming Daisy was artificially impregnated (vs. actually “knowing” the father), and in keeping with Christmas, I suggest you call the new little one Virginia.
December 18th, 2009 at 10:58 am
I’d say boy and girl twins but that would be cheating so I’ll guess a little girl calf…
December 18th, 2009 at 11:00 am
I guess a boy calf (and if it is you may have to name him Abner) for the Little Abner and Daisy Mae cartoon.
December 18th, 2009 at 11:00 am
I’m going with a boy. Good luck!
December 18th, 2009 at 11:02 am
A girl!!!! Good luck!
December 18th, 2009 at 11:03 am
HEALTHY!!!
Beyond that a girl…
December 18th, 2009 at 11:03 am
Baby boy — Best of luck!
December 18th, 2009 at 11:06 am
Here’s a blessing for a healthy calf
I think it will be a girl!
December 18th, 2009 at 11:06 am
Female - it is time for a girl!
December 18th, 2009 at 11:07 am
Here is how I see it…Hugh Heifer, with Shreve and Daisy and Chole as the “girls next door”…or, Charile and Eli and MC as the “boys next door”…I think I see a TV show here.
Either way, what is important is that it is healthy and lives a happy life (the happy life part is guaranteed with you).
December 18th, 2009 at 11:07 am
I think it will be a girl.
December 18th, 2009 at 11:07 am
Good luck, Daisy! Welcome, baby GIRL!
December 18th, 2009 at 11:07 am
Boy!
I hope it all goes well!
December 18th, 2009 at 11:08 am
It’s going to be a heifer!
December 18th, 2009 at 11:09 am
hoping for a heifer!
December 18th, 2009 at 11:11 am
My suggestion is to open that bottle of champagne for Chris. Be it bull or heifer the name fits for the either and perfectly fits for Christmas time.
December 18th, 2009 at 11:12 am
since you and Daisy are outnumbered in the farmily, I’m gonna say GIRL to try and make things more equal lol
December 18th, 2009 at 11:13 am
I’m thinking that it will be a heifer and she should be named Tulip!
December 18th, 2009 at 11:13 am
A beautiful girl! This is so exciting for all of you!
December 18th, 2009 at 11:14 am
it has to be a girl and her name should be “MERRY”.
December 18th, 2009 at 11:14 am
Plow Cow, not now, it’s a girl!
December 18th, 2009 at 11:16 am
I’m also part of the HEIFER crowd. Whatever it is, I hope it’s a straightforward, uncomplicated birth, easy on cow, calf and handler!
December 18th, 2009 at 11:17 am
it’s gonna be a boy!
December 18th, 2009 at 11:17 am
Hi Shreve!
I am going to guess Daisy will have a girl…….
Happy Holidays to you, Charlie, and Eli! Thanks for another year of sharing Charlie and the interesting life you lead!
December 18th, 2009 at 11:18 am
It’s going to be a bull calf. And when you have him castrated, Charlie can have bully stix
December 18th, 2009 at 11:19 am
It’’s a girl
Glad Wyoming has warmed up…that sure makes things easier
December 18th, 2009 at 11:19 am
I’m thinking a healthy heifer
December 18th, 2009 at 11:19 am
I’m guessing female, hope the birth goes smoothly for everyone.
December 18th, 2009 at 11:21 am
I think it’s going to be a girl!
December 18th, 2009 at 11:22 am
While a boy would be cool, I think it’ll be an even cooler girl! Good luck Daisy!
December 18th, 2009 at 11:22 am
A male calf, healthy happy and easy to work with.
Hope things are nice and easy for you and Daisy.
And Congrats!
December 18th, 2009 at 11:22 am
It’s a GIRL!!!!!!!
December 18th, 2009 at 11:26 am
Totally a girl!!! I can’t wait to see pictures of Daisy licking her sweet little head!!!!!
December 18th, 2009 at 11:26 am
Hoping for a girl! Good Luck!
December 18th, 2009 at 11:27 am
definitely a little bull! how exciting!
December 18th, 2009 at 11:27 am
I going to guess a boy. You could have a “brother” website called The Daily Steer. But then you wouldn’t want to leave anyone out and you’d have to have The Daily Heifer, The Daily Hound and The Daily Eli. Too much writing, you’d have no time for your beasts!
I don’t think I’ve ever been excited by the impending birth of a cow before. I’m looking forward to the updates.
December 18th, 2009 at 11:28 am
Hmmmm…I see a boy. Do you have a mohel lined up for the bris?
December 18th, 2009 at 11:31 am
I’m thinkin’… Bull-y for a Boy!
December 18th, 2009 at 11:33 am
I’m betting on a female! Hope she has a safe delivery!
December 18th, 2009 at 11:33 am
A healthy and long-lived boy addition to the farmily. What a great life you have! Living in Los Angeles, with pavement, cars, road rage, pollution, noise…fill in the blanks…I encourage you to go back in time as far as you can.
December 18th, 2009 at 11:35 am
Girl! Have you thought of names yet? How about Holly? It goes with the time of year & the theme of naming cows after flowering plants!
December 18th, 2009 at 11:35 am
Here’s hoping for a healthy baby girl!
December 18th, 2009 at 11:36 am
I’m hoping for a healthy, strong, BOY! Good luck and best wishes!
December 18th, 2009 at 11:36 am
A future plow cow! In either case - I hope she has a healthy calf. It’s a wonderful thing. I am celebrating my Jersey heifer’s first birthday in a week. They are the sweetest! Congrats!!!
December 18th, 2009 at 11:38 am
Oooh, I vote girl.
(But if it’s a boy, I think you should name it Gatsby, like the Great Gatsby, where daisy is also a character
December 18th, 2009 at 11:39 am
a girl!!
December 18th, 2009 at 11:39 am
Our guess is . . . It’s a GIRL ! :o)
December 18th, 2009 at 11:40 am
Bouncing baby girl!
Good luck!
December 18th, 2009 at 11:40 am
A cow as sweet as Daisy should have a little girl to play with
Sending good wishes and energy your way for an easy birth and a health calf!
December 18th, 2009 at 11:40 am
Healthy, healthy, healthy.
I’m going with a little baby girl cow!!!
December 18th, 2009 at 11:40 am
I’m hoping its a heifer.
December 18th, 2009 at 11:40 am
It’s great that either gender will play a big part in your growing farmily.
I’m hoping for a healthy heifer!
Where are you going to get ideas for names? Or will that be another contest later on?
December 18th, 2009 at 11:42 am
Future steer. Here here…for the males in our lives.
December 18th, 2009 at 11:43 am
I kinda wanted a heifer, but how are you going two milk two of them? Thats a lot of milking time, and with the plow needs I’ll say a bull. Hopefully healthy no matter what and an easy delivery for Daisy and you. You could name it “Christmas” either way.
Can’t wait for the new addition to the farmily!
December 18th, 2009 at 11:43 am
I am guessing a bouncing baby boy….
December 18th, 2009 at 11:44 am
A daughter.
Are you accepting names? How about Violet?
December 18th, 2009 at 11:45 am
boy! or girl! eh, i’m not so good at this…
i’ll hope for a boy for you!
December 18th, 2009 at 11:45 am
a girlie-girl!
December 18th, 2009 at 11:48 am
Congrats! Hope everything went well. I’m gonna go with a girl.
December 18th, 2009 at 11:48 am
Heifer. Totally. The Force is strong with that one [Daisy].
December 18th, 2009 at 11:48 am
Girl! And name her Petunia!
December 18th, 2009 at 11:48 am
It’s going to be a heifer, because you’ve already got four boys, but only two girls. And you, Shreve, cultivate balance.
December 18th, 2009 at 11:51 am
A pretty girl
December 18th, 2009 at 11:54 am
A bouncing baby boy!
December 18th, 2009 at 11:54 am
I say boy. Congrats!

Heifer! Good luck Daisy!

December 18th, 2009 at 12:01 pm
I vote for boy.
Good luck. Hope it goes smoothly for Daisy.
Happy Holidays. :*)
December 18th, 2009 at 12:02 pm
Twins.
One each.
December 18th, 2009 at 12:03 pm
Which ever it is may it be healthy!
I’m going to guess its a boy since it seems most people are guessing heifer lol
December 18th, 2009 at 12:03 pm
A beautiful little girl…a ‘mini me’ for Daisy!
December 18th, 2009 at 12:04 pm
My initial thought was twins, one of each, but I’ll say it’s a girl…
December 18th, 2009 at 12:04 pm
I say a “girl” - a beautiful soft -faced gal - maybe “Lily”.
December 18th, 2009 at 12:05 pm

December 18th, 2009 at 12:05 pm

December 18th, 2009 at 12:17 pm
Plow Cow
December 18th, 2009 at 12:17 pm
I’m guessing a baby bull. I don’t know if you have names in mind, but I’d go for a reindeer name — it would be perfect for a winter baby you train to harness (especially if you get a sleigh!). Maybe Cupid?
Good luck and good weather to you and Daisy and the baby.
December 18th, 2009 at 12:18 pm
Heifer! My best to Daisy. I’ve gone through labor, too, so I know it can be tough.
December 18th, 2009 at 12:19 pm
It’ll be a bull! Good luck to you and Daisy!
December 18th, 2009 at 12:19 pm

December 18th, 2009 at 12:20 pm
A healthy little heifer!
December 18th, 2009 at 12:22 pm
I’m saying a bull calf.
If it is a bull calf, have you thought of castrating him after he matures (if you could stand the ” bullyness”) so you could have an Ox? An Ox would really be a plow cow!
December 18th, 2009 at 12:23 pm
Female, and healthy!
December 18th, 2009 at 12:24 pm
I`m going to say, A baby Girl. She will look like her Mom, and produce sweet milk. Good luck with the birthing, and a very Merry Christmas to you Shreve, and all of your farmily.
December 18th, 2009 at 12:24 pm
A bull calf!

December 18th, 2009 at 12:30 pm

Eija

December 18th, 2009 at 12:34 pm
Girls rule …so yea, that’s my guess.
December 18th, 2009 at 12:35 pm
Almost everyone is saying girl, so I’m gonna have to say boy, just to be different.
December 18th, 2009 at 12:37 pm
It’s gonna be a girl, possibly named (in honor of the season) Holly Ivy, who will make her mama extremely happy, and you, too.

Good Luck from Canada!
Paul
December 18th, 2009 at 12:54 pm
I’m betting on a girl, but if the baby is a boy, we will most emphatically want to see pictures of him doing his job as a Plow Cow someday. LOL
December 18th, 2009 at 12:54 pm
Daisy’s going to have a healthy girl. Congrats!
December 18th, 2009 at 12:55 pm

Best of luck to Daisy and to you!
December 18th, 2009 at 1:46 pm
I think (and hope) it’s a girl. I know what you mean about collecting animals. 6 years ago when I moved in with my then-boyfriend-now-husband, I told him in no uncertain terms, “this AIN’T no friggin’ farm!” Now, 10 alpacas, 3 Jersey heifer calves, 3 goats , 80 chickens, 15 rabbits, and 1 horse later, I guess it really is a farm, and I love every minute of it!
December 18th, 2009 at 1:46 pm
Guessing it is going to be a “girl” and we should name her Tulip…
December 18th, 2009 at 1:47 pm

Either way, I hope it’s happy and healthy!
December 18th, 2009 at 1:53 pm
Whatever the outcome, I hope it was a good delivery and that the calf is healthy! That being said, I hope it’s a girl!
Congrats to Daisy and to you, Shreve, and to your growing Farmily!
December 18th, 2009 at 1:53 pm
I’m going to guess a BOY, ’cause I’d love to see the whole Steer process… I cart with my dogs… And that puppy coyote pic from a couple of days ago says it was taken in September 2009… Really?! I suspect not. Best wishes for a smooth delivery for Daisy!

December 18th, 2009 at 1:59 pm
I’m guessing baby boy cow - you’ll need help for your fields!
December 18th, 2009 at 1:59 pm
What’s that? I’m going to have to go with Charlie’s belly on this one - male.

My grandchildren and I have been excitedly watching your farmily grow!! We all voted and looks like Daisy will be giving you a not-so-little baby boy who will grow up and take good care of you, for taking good care of his mom…
Happy&Safe holidays to you

I’m pretty sure it’ll be a girl. It’s got those girly vibes!
December 18th, 2009 at 2:31 pm
Girl!
December 18th, 2009 at 2:31 pm
I think the new addition will be a girl.
I know what you mean about accumulating animals. We were happy with just cats, until we moved to Aberystwyth in west Wales, and started with hens. We now have 7: one black rock and 6 lohmann-browns and I love them!
December 18th, 2009 at 2:32 pm
It’s a baby boy with a cute nose and big big big eyes.
December 18th, 2009 at 2:32 pm
I am thinking little heifer calf so you can start your own herd! lol

December 18th, 2009 at 2:45 pm
Boy for sure.
December 18th, 2009 at 2:51 pm
I cared for a neighbor’s cattle some when I was younger, and I knew some of the absolute sweetest steers. So I hope you get a bull
Best of luck, but I bet Daisy will know exactly what to do!
December 18th, 2009 at 2:53 pm
I hope it’s a girl! That way you and Daisy will stop being outnumbered, haha.
December 18th, 2009 at 2:53 pm
I think it will be a girl, then eventually you’ll have to start your own cheese shop !
December 18th, 2009 at 2:54 pm
♥♥♥ GIRL♥♥♥
December 18th, 2009 at 2:54 pm
It will be a girl. Cowalina!
December 18th, 2009 at 2:55 pm
Bull calf is my guess. Wouldn’t it be funny if she had twins though? Sure you might get a freemartin then but everyone would still technically be correct.
December 18th, 2009 at 2:56 pm
Hopefully a healthy baby girl.
December 18th, 2009 at 2:56 pm
I’m guessing a heifer!
December 18th, 2009 at 2:57 pm
Hoping for an easy, speedy delivery for Daisy. What a wonderful blessing. I am thinking a girl so you can expand your herd before you buy up all that land.
December 18th, 2009 at 2:57 pm
It’s… a calf. Definitely a calf.
Hope all is well with Daisy and baby - looking forward to the birth announcement!
December 18th, 2009 at 2:57 pm
Oh, I soooo want the baby to be a girl.
But as long as your grandcow or grandbull comes into the world healthy, that’s all that really matters. I just want everyone to be healthy and happy!
December 18th, 2009 at 2:58 pm
I’m guessing it’ll be a… boy. x)
Happy Birthday!
P.S. I just bought the Daily Coyote book for myself as a christmas present — and read it in a day as soon as it arrived. Couldn’t put it down.
We’re going to send one copy to my aunt who lives in Lapland and raises alaskan huskies.
December 18th, 2009 at 3:00 pm
Hope everything goes well for Daisy and her heifer!
December 18th, 2009 at 3:01 pm
Too bad it can’t be both…let’s go with a girl. Need to get those female numbers up around the homestead!
December 18th, 2009 at 3:02 pm
My vote is for heifer.
December 18th, 2009 at 3:04 pm
GIRL!! Hoping for a healthy and speedy delivery for Daisy!
December 18th, 2009 at 3:06 pm
Boy!
December 18th, 2009 at 3:06 pm
Daisy is so giving birth to a girl! Hope the labor goes well for everybody!
December 18th, 2009 at 3:08 pm
i’ll guess bull. your draft animal idea would certainly add an interesting chapter to your wyoming saga.
hope the birth goes smoothly.
December 18th, 2009 at 3:09 pm
I hope everything goes well in the birthing process, and I think it’ll be a boy.
I also had a question..if it is a boy and becomes your ‘plow cow’ what happens when he gets too old? Do old cattle become beef products (whether it be for humans or animals)?
December 18th, 2009 at 3:09 pm
Female!
December 18th, 2009 at 3:10 pm
since you have Baby, i will vote for a heifer.
December 18th, 2009 at 3:10 pm
heifer
December 18th, 2009 at 3:10 pm
Oh! Forgot to add that I wish you and yours a wonderful, warm and safe holiday season!!
December 18th, 2009 at 3:11 pm
Daisy will have a girl, to help even out the gender distribution out there.
December 18th, 2009 at 3:17 pm
Heifer. Charlie and Eli need more milk….
December 18th, 2009 at 3:18 pm
That tiny new baby cow is going to be a boy! Happy birthday to him!
December 18th, 2009 at 3:18 pm
I’m hoping it’s a bull. See, my in-laws breed black angus and their bull has recently been retired from his job as his back hips have gone out. He really must be worn out; he is the size of a chest freezer. He’s gentle enough that they haven’t used AI but now that he can’t mount they’ve gotten some straws from him and he’s off to… the slaughter house. It kills me to say that because I grew rather attached to him. But I realize he’s had a much better life than most beef cattle as he’s been grass fed in his own pasture with apple trees. Anyways, (I do have a point) I’m hoping it’s a bull so that maybe he’ll be replaced in some nature rights itself way. They don’t have to have the same roll-just the same sex.
December 18th, 2009 at 3:20 pm
a girl! and you can name her Lilly!
December 18th, 2009 at 3:24 pm
Girl!
Good luck!
December 18th, 2009 at 3:29 pm
Girl girl girl!!
December 18th, 2009 at 3:29 pm
Girl girl girl!
December 18th, 2009 at 3:32 pm
A strong girl. Any names selected yet?
December 18th, 2009 at 3:36 pm
IT’S A BOY!
December 18th, 2009 at 3:37 pm
Here’s to hoping for a strong, beautiful little heifer!
Good luck and congrats!
December 18th, 2009 at 3:38 pm

December 18th, 2009 at 3:41 pm

December 18th, 2009 at 3:45 pm
Heifer! Congrats to Daisy and you!
December 18th, 2009 at 3:46 pm
hmmm, i think it’ll be a girl!
December 18th, 2009 at 3:48 pm
female is what my heart says - thrilled for you either way and envious in a joyous way of your life out there
December 18th, 2009 at 3:48 pm
Chloe - Girl
Charlie - Boy
Eli - Boy
Daisy - Girl
Ranger - Boy
New Baby must be a GIRL!
December 18th, 2009 at 3:50 pm
I’m guessing it’ll be a girl!!!!!!!!
December 18th, 2009 at 3:51 pm
Whichever, may it be healthy - but I’m going to guess a healthy happy little bull boycow for you so you can have your plowcow.
Man - and I thought my shelter cat (which came to me 2 days pregnant) having kittens was exciting!!!
December 18th, 2009 at 3:52 pm
Boy
Your plow cow dreams must come true!
December 18th, 2009 at 3:53 pm
I’m gonna guess a boy. The last new addition was a girl, it’s about time that balanced out. ^_^
December 18th, 2009 at 3:54 pm
Girl power! All my friends are having girls lately - let’s continue the trend.
December 18th, 2009 at 3:58 pm
I guess a girl…and perhaps her name could be Posie! (Get it? Daisy…Posie?)
December 18th, 2009 at 4:00 pm
A girl!
December 18th, 2009 at 4:01 pm
I’m thinkin’ it’s a boy.
December 18th, 2009 at 4:02 pm
I’m guessing BOY!
December 18th, 2009 at 4:02 pm
I guess girl… but as long as your baby is healthy, who cares?!?!?! All best luck!!
December 18th, 2009 at 4:04 pm
a female for the win!
December 18th, 2009 at 4:10 pm
Female.
Since she is coming near Xmas you could name her: Joy, or Merry, or Mary!?? But mainly a healthy baby (all babies are cute)!.
December 18th, 2009 at 4:12 pm
Like you, I just pray for a healthy babe for Daisy to love and nurture. But, down deep I hope it’s a BOY so your dream of having a plow cow can come true sooner than later. Bottom line: Whichever sex the young one proves to be, it’ll be a win-win situation. Fingers and toes crossed that all goes well.
December 18th, 2009 at 4:13 pm
My guess - female.
Either way–best wishes for a healthy baby bovine!
December 18th, 2009 at 4:13 pm
It’s a boy!
December 18th, 2009 at 4:17 pm
I think it’s a girl!
December 18th, 2009 at 4:21 pm
I have a small herd of Highland cattle. I’m always wonder-filled watching the births. Girls are my favorite so here’s hoping Daisy has a Daisyette! Safe delivery, plentiful milk, hugs and kisses to mom and babe.
December 18th, 2009 at 4:21 pm
Boy calf!!
I hope baby, mama and Grandma Shreve all come out of this good!
December 18th, 2009 at 4:36 pm
I’m voting heifer, because then you could make CHEESE [insert Wallace and Gromit reference]. Good luck with your midwifery!
December 18th, 2009 at 4:38 pm
Daisy needs a baby girl calf! Heifer!
December 18th, 2009 at 4:41 pm
It’s gonna be a boy!
December 18th, 2009 at 4:41 pm
Heifer! And here’s wishing you a joyous and blessed CHRISTMAS!
December 18th, 2009 at 4:46 pm
A Big Healthy Baby Boy!
December 18th, 2009 at 4:49 pm
i’m hoping for a healthy and happy and moo-tiful baby girl!
December 18th, 2009 at 4:50 pm
Wow! This is a truly special event! Kudos to you!
I think it will be a
Heifer Calf- a female
December 18th, 2009 at 4:52 pm
Daisy is gonna have a sweet little girl! Best wishes to mama and her new baby! ~ and unto you a baby is born ~ Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year to you and yours!
December 18th, 2009 at 4:53 pm
I was just sitting here daydreaming about wanting to move to the country so I can get a baby cow…and then I checked in to read your latest! Love cows I think A boy with those beautiful long cow lashes when he looks up at you wistfully and I’d name him Sweet Pea…..A girl with a pretty spot on her soft face to nuzzle and naming her Baby…Ah yes twins you are destined to write a book about this
December 18th, 2009 at 4:54 pm
A baby girl!
December 18th, 2009 at 4:55 pm
I’m guessing it’s a healthy beautiful girl. It rounds out your collection a little better (3 males, and 3 females in the ‘farmily’ including you). Merry Christmas and good luck, may God bless you and your little growing family!
December 18th, 2009 at 4:56 pm
Not to be nit-picky, but i’m kinda anal about this stuff. if it’s a bull calf and you cut him for plowing, he won’t be a plowcow, he’ll be a plowsteer.
I’m guessing a bull calf. Cheers to you and yours.
December 18th, 2009 at 4:57 pm
A healthy and beautiful heifer for Daisy…THEN…
You could name her Holly!
December 18th, 2009 at 4:57 pm
If it’s a heifer, you could name her Holly - it is the Christmas season, after all. Or (black-eyed) Susan to go with Daisy.
Somehow, Poinsettia just doesn’t seem to work.
And in keeping with the plant names, how about Timothy for a boy?
December 18th, 2009 at 5:02 pm
From a long time lurker/admirer of your photos & writing and occasional caption writer:
I hope you have a girl calf. I had a baby girl, Mary Elizabeth, on Sept. 20 this year and lost her to a congenital heart defect (tricuspid atresia) on Nov. 5. My prayers are with you and Daisy for a safe birth and a healthy calf, no matter what the sex.
December 18th, 2009 at 5:04 pm
PLOW COW !
My guess is Boy ! What ever it is - I hope Baby and Mom are doing fine !
December 18th, 2009 at 5:05 pm
Well.
I’m going to pick: One of each. She’s having twins!
I think you could name them Eggnog and Cider. (Eggnog for the Heifer, of course)
December 18th, 2009 at 5:06 pm
I’m guessing girl. She’ll be a Capricorn, like me! Congrats and good luck!
December 18th, 2009 at 5:09 pm
The minute I read your post about guessing…I just felt “girl!!! So I think it is going to be a gal cow baby
December 18th, 2009 at 5:10 pm
oops I forgot my name on that last post……
December 18th, 2009 at 5:14 pm
female!
C’mon, Shreve, that tweet was 7 hours ago. It doesn’t take 7 hours for a cow to calve … what’s happening?
V
December 18th, 2009 at 5:14 pm
Boy
December 18th, 2009 at 5:16 pm
I would say female, though I have of course absolutely nothing to base that guess on.
Whatever - as long as Daisy has a relatively easy time of it and can be a mother to a healthy calf. All the rest is not that important.
-t-
December 18th, 2009 at 5:18 pm
I think it will be a little baby boy, and then you can name him something like “Duke” or “Dukes” so you can have Daisy Dukes…
I hope all goes well, and hope the little cow, be it boy or girl, is happy and healthy as can be - and that Daisy is also in good health after the birth.
December 18th, 2009 at 5:21 pm
I’m going to go with a girl.
December 18th, 2009 at 5:23 pm
Since I think a plow cow would be wonderful, I’m going to go with a boy!
December 18th, 2009 at 5:26 pm
I think she will deliver a wobbly, but healthy baby girl… and she could be named Daisies (as in Daisy’s).
December 18th, 2009 at 5:29 pm
I hope it’s a girl. Then she can have more girls! Hope all goes well and safely and all are healthy!
December 18th, 2009 at 5:29 pm
Daisy, Daisy,
Please have that baby, do.
We’re half crazy
Waiting for word from you.
We hope your baby’s healthy
And it’s arrival isn’t stealthy
You’ll both look sweet
In Shreve’s next Tweet
In a warm barn stall built for two.
December 18th, 2009 at 5:39 pm
First time commenting!
I have this crazy hunch it’s going to be a boy!
December 18th, 2009 at 5:42 pm
Hi Shreve:
I hope it’s a little boy. First time commenting - but long time fan!
December 18th, 2009 at 5:47 pm
A boy to Steer thee plow.
Then we need a naming contest! Best of health to Daisy and newborn.
December 18th, 2009 at 5:51 pm
Bull!
December 18th, 2009 at 5:52 pm
It hope will be a little girl! I do like the steer idea though, I wish more people thought like you.
December 18th, 2009 at 5:53 pm
I think Daisy will have a little lady cow for double the dairy. I hope that everything is going well - I’ve been thinking about Daisy all day, and wish you all the very best!
December 18th, 2009 at 5:53 pm
GIRL!!! enjoy some champagne when its born! (:
Call it Mae… cause then you’d have a Daisy and a Mae
December 18th, 2009 at 5:54 pm
Opps! Above comment from me, girl!
December 18th, 2009 at 5:58 pm
I’m going to guess that it’ll be a boy cow.
December 18th, 2009 at 5:58 pm
i hope it’s a black baby girl
or with black and white spots to balance out your black boy and daisy’s whiteness
December 18th, 2009 at 6:00 pm
I think it’s going to be a heifer and it will be a mama’s girl.
December 18th, 2009 at 6:06 pm
I’m hoping it will be a little heifer-girl!
December 18th, 2009 at 6:09 pm
I vote girl!!
December 18th, 2009 at 6:13 pm
A boy, perhaps?
Either way, good luck and hope everything goes well!
December 18th, 2009 at 6:15 pm
Girl!
December 18th, 2009 at 6:15 pm
Isn’t a castrated plow cow an ox? Hope it’s a boy!
December 18th, 2009 at 6:16 pm
I think you don’t need any more dairy in your diet.
So it will be a bull calf.
December 18th, 2009 at 6:18 pm
I’m feelin it’s going to be a sweet lil heifer this time. Good luck to you all & Daisy. I know how much fun this can be as I used to raise Arabians. Happy holidays Shreve!
December 18th, 2009 at 6:27 pm
I think your idea of a bull for a tractor would be grand!
Boy oh Boy, for a boy
December 18th, 2009 at 6:28 pm
GIRL !
December 18th, 2009 at 6:29 pm
I vote girly girl!!!!!!!!!!!! Go Daisy. Plus my vote for the name is Poppy!!!
December 18th, 2009 at 6:31 pm
Baby boy!! I think your idea for the little guy was an intuitive hit! XO
December 18th, 2009 at 6:32 pm
Opps!!! That was me before, the anonymous one! In my excitement I forgot to fill the my info :P.
December 18th, 2009 at 6:35 pm
LOL, I’m literally about to pee my pants right now, cuz I messed up again! My last name is Margraf, NOT Margarf, LOL!
December 18th, 2009 at 6:35 pm
Since humans have more boys than girls, I predict it will be a boy. However, cows may be different from humans. Are you going to start cutting your wood with a crosscut saw or an axe? Do you have plenty of kerosene on hand? Are you getting ready for 2012?
December 18th, 2009 at 6:36 pm
I love your website! I think Daisy will have a baby boy!! But both boy or girl will make a wonderful addition to your farmily.
Congratulations to Daisy and you!
December 18th, 2009 at 6:39 pm
Wishing good health and speeding recovery to Daisy after her baby male calf is born!
Happy Holidays to the Farmily!
December 18th, 2009 at 6:50 pm
I hope Daisy has a strong, healthy, loving, bull calf that you can castrate and plow with!
You have ideas like I do. You go Girl! Planned a garden yet.
I recommend the next critter to be turkeys… their entertainment value alone makes them worthwhile, the Heritage breeds need saving, and they taste kinda good.
One breed, the Royal Palm, has feathers folks like because they look like bald eagle feathers, I’ve been told. Gee… guess what breed I have had for 10 years now and love most of all…
December 18th, 2009 at 6:50 pm
I agree that the most important thing is that Daisy’s babe be alive and well. That being said, I’m guessing that she’ll have a female calf.
I was ever so lucky to witness the birthing of a calf when I was a teenager. It is something that I have never forgotten. Amazing!
December 18th, 2009 at 6:51 pm
Oooh, good news! I checked the site compulsively, wondering whether Daisy had calved yet. (Is that the right word? I’d think so, since glaciers do.)
Anyway….
I think Daisy’s calf will be male.
Why? you ask. Because that’s the way of it at Shreve’s place. The canines are a matched set so the bovines will be too.
I have my fingers crossed for a fast, easy delivery and all to be healthy.
December 18th, 2009 at 6:52 pm
I’m guessing a boy. Best wishes to Daisy and the new babe!
December 18th, 2009 at 6:56 pm
FEMALE is my guess.
December 18th, 2009 at 6:56 pm
Male! YAY!!!!! <3
December 18th, 2009 at 6:56 pm
I’m guessing a girl.
December 18th, 2009 at 6:58 pm
I think it’ll be a boy just so you can have an even number of boys and girls in your personal household.
December 18th, 2009 at 6:58 pm
Dairy Cow!
Daisy looks like a pretty cuddle-cow.
December 18th, 2009 at 7:00 pm
Female!! Her name could be Petal:)
December 18th, 2009 at 7:04 pm
It’s gonna be a boy! I just have a feeling.
December 18th, 2009 at 7:09 pm
I THINK THAT THE CALF WILL BE A GIRL!!!
JUST A FEELING!
GOTTA HAVE YOUR WISH COME TRUE - A GIRL IT SHOULD BE!!!
December 18th, 2009 at 7:10 pm
I’m going to cast my vote for heifer. (Now you know you’ll get that Plow Cow!)
December 18th, 2009 at 7:14 pm
I voting for a female calf! That way Daisy can have the complete set.
December 18th, 2009 at 7:14 pm
I’m going with a baby girl!
I can’t wait too see beautiful baby pictures!!
December 18th, 2009 at 7:15 pm
I am guessing a boy!
December 18th, 2009 at 7:17 pm
Boy!
December 18th, 2009 at 7:18 pm
I predict that Daisy will have a male calf <3
Merry Christmas, Shreve, to you and all your animal tribe! To Mike and his family also!! <3
December 18th, 2009 at 7:18 pm
I’m guessing girl.
December 18th, 2009 at 7:20 pm
a girl
December 18th, 2009 at 7:20 pm
vote…BOy…BOvine
ah…
December 18th, 2009 at 7:21 pm
a girl!
(if only I could’ve seen her pregnant belly, then I would for sure be right… I’m really good at guessing on human babies)
December 18th, 2009 at 7:23 pm
*holds card to head*
I see a widdle, tho slighty heavy, girl.
December 18th, 2009 at 7:27 pm
i can’t say tails as i usually do as both sexes have tails. but a dude is usually heads. so i will say moo cow is a milk cow to be. have you churned butter too?
December 18th, 2009 at 7:29 pm
I predict, in all my “lack of bovine knowledge” - a boy.
December 18th, 2009 at 7:32 pm
How about a boy - because a plow cow would be so loverly to have for you! plowing and driving with horses/cows is the only way to go. Truly.
December 18th, 2009 at 7:34 pm
I am hoping for a boy in honor of my father-in-law who just passed away.
December 18th, 2009 at 7:34 pm
I predict a boy–because I’m hoping you get what you want! Good luck to you and Daisy and the farmily!
December 18th, 2009 at 7:34 pm
I predict a heifer!
December 18th, 2009 at 7:35 pm
Definitley a girl ;o)
December 18th, 2009 at 7:36 pm
I think it will be a little lady.
December 18th, 2009 at 7:36 pm
Girl girl girl!
December 18th, 2009 at 7:39 pm
It will be a sweet little heifer calf!
December 18th, 2009 at 7:46 pm
Heifer
December 18th, 2009 at 7:50 pm
We’re hoping for a girl. And you can never have too many animals. (well, don’t be a hoarder)
December 18th, 2009 at 7:53 pm
I’m thinking a boy
December 18th, 2009 at 7:53 pm
Boy! Hope it’s healthy no matter what! Congratulations!
December 18th, 2009 at 7:56 pm
The calf is a boy.
December 18th, 2009 at 7:56 pm
Girl!!!
December 18th, 2009 at 7:57 pm
Boy of course!
December 18th, 2009 at 7:57 pm
I bet it’s going to be a girl, b/c Daisy as been such a wonderful mother to Baby in the past! It’d be a shame not to pass that on her demeanor to a heifer!
December 18th, 2009 at 8:00 pm
I think it’ll be a bull calf, healthy and hearty (and hardy as well to survive the Wyoming winter as a baby). I’ll keep good birthing thoughts for all.
December 18th, 2009 at 8:09 pm
It’ll be a beautiful bouncing baby girl and she’ll have a spot of hair that is different in color, like a birth mark!
December 18th, 2009 at 8:13 pm
Definitely a bouncing bovine of the female variety - who will then produce work cows for you in ample time for you to realize your dream.
December 18th, 2009 at 8:15 pm
my sense is that it is going to be a little bull calf
December 18th, 2009 at 8:22 pm
A fine healthy heifer, who can then produce a male calf, as kate says above.
Regards to the farmily!
December 18th, 2009 at 8:23 pm
A heifer! I like milk!
December 18th, 2009 at 8:24 pm
Behbeh girl!
December 18th, 2009 at 8:25 pm
I thought female at first. For some reason I changed to thinking male.
Its snow here in Roanoke VA probably up to 20 inches or more. Amazingly beautiful and rare. Love it. I’ve had my camera (nikon d90 and d200) set up at the kitchen window taken birds in the snow shots. I put an old rocking chair out there and an old tin cup and lots of seeds. They’ve been having fun.
I am enjoying your book too. You remind me of me in my youth and yes….. there are some of us destined to be curious and always yearning for whats over the hill on that dirt road path. We are different. Especially being female. Have a great day and a healthy baby from Daisy Mae whatever it is.
Nancy
December 18th, 2009 at 8:27 pm
Will be a beautiful lovely girl! (I asked my cats.)
December 18th, 2009 at 8:39 pm
I bet he’s a boy!
December 18th, 2009 at 8:39 pm
It’s gonna be a lovely baby girl with the best cow-y eyelashes. Guuu!
December 18th, 2009 at 8:40 pm
A baby boy, hope you get your plow bull!
December 18th, 2009 at 8:42 pm
A Girl so she can be a dairy cow and hang out with her mommies!!
December 18th, 2009 at 8:43 pm
a girl….named mistle (for mistletoe)
and who said heifers can’t plow!
Where I grew up, the buffalo that pulled the plow was gender indifferent…..
December 18th, 2009 at 9:02 pm
Boy
December 18th, 2009 at 9:06 pm
Boy!! Maybe named Butch!? =)
December 18th, 2009 at 9:08 pm
Definitely a girl!
December 18th, 2009 at 9:08 pm
My guess is it will be female, another dairy cow. Petunia. Or Holly. or Sage. You’ll figure it out. All the best to Daisy and the Farmily.
December 18th, 2009 at 9:08 pm
Bless Daisy and her adorable baby girl-ette. Praying for a safe delivery. Is the Nursery ready???
December 18th, 2009 at 9:15 pm
A strong boy
December 18th, 2009 at 9:18 pm
I like the idea of a heifer calf. Give Daisy an extra hug and tell her to ‘breathe’ and push!! Is there Lamaze for cows??!!
December 18th, 2009 at 9:18 pm
I think it will be a girl, and I have to say I never thought I could be so pleased and interested over the birth of a baby cow. Hope mom and baby are fine and healthy and I love that they have you looking out for them. You are so engaged, and they deserve nothing less imo.
December 18th, 2009 at 9:21 pm
My gut says it’s a boy - you’re going to get your plow cow!
December 18th, 2009 at 9:22 pm
I hope its a healthy baby girl!!
December 18th, 2009 at 9:25 pm
It’s a boy!
December 18th, 2009 at 9:29 pm
Congratulations, your Daisy is birthing a bouncing baby boy!!!
December 18th, 2009 at 9:29 pm
I’m guessing the new baby calf is a heifer. You can never have too much fresh milk…..and another female would be great for adding to the breeding stock!
December 18th, 2009 at 9:32 pm
I’m going to guess bull-calf, but either way is good! The real question is are you going to breed her back in 75-80 days for next years calf
December 18th, 2009 at 9:39 pm
Heifer for sure! Happy cows live in Wisconsin….and Wyoming!
December 18th, 2009 at 9:40 pm
Oh, it’s a girl……I just know it! And she will be strong, healthy….and loved!

My thoughts are with both Daisy and you during this time. I love reading about the bond you two have developed. I predict Daisy will give birth to a heifer!

December 18th, 2009 at 10:48 pm
Calving season was always my favorite part of raising beef cattle. My first impulse is Heifer! Good health and strength to Daisy and newborn!
December 18th, 2009 at 10:54 pm
Boy…..boys love their moms…..and Daisy deserves to be loved and adored….
December 18th, 2009 at 10:58 pm
Someone already said it,,
The calf should be a female, just so the mothering instint from Daisy is passed on. All I want if for Mom and baby be healthy and Shreve gets here nerves calmed.
I delivered a human baby once, I had never been so scared in my life.
Kathryn

December 18th, 2009 at 11:57 pm

December 19th, 2009 at 12:10 am
I think that Charlie might need another man around! Its getting a little bit female heavy with you, Chloe, and Daisy. Round it out with a baby boy cow!
A little boy with precious eyelashes.

Girl!
December 19th, 2009 at 12:32 am
Moooooooooooooooo! I want to say it’s going to be a girl.
Shreve, have you heard or read about the dairy cows in and around Grindelwald, Switzerland. So gorgeous. You would love to visit there. All the dairy cows have wonderful leather collars with big, gorgeous, engraved brass bells. Ok .. a lot of them do. It’s easy to imagine a little girl named Heidi living around there. Quaint sidewalk cafes, flowerboxes in all the windows. Cool, fresh air. Beautiful landscapes.
Here are some images you might enjoy.

The cows are basically trained to go from the barn to the pastures and back again practically all by themselves, like clockwork. There is literally a parade of cows going right through the town at set times. All the tourists can do is stare in amazement and awe at their beauty.
December 19th, 2009 at 12:45 am
Female!
December 19th, 2009 at 12:49 am
You must be exhausted, but happy (not to mention how happy Daisy is!). I vote for a lady cow, ‘cuz there’s not such thing as too much estrogen in a household. Can’t wait to see the baby pix.
Go get some some sleep now.
December 19th, 2009 at 12:52 am
Boy!
December 19th, 2009 at 12:52 am

December 19th, 2009 at 2:19 am
Boy. Bull. Steer.
BTW - a working steer is called an ox. Plural, oxen.
December 19th, 2009 at 2:41 am
I’m guessing a heifer. But what will you do if it’s neither?
December 19th, 2009 at 2:46 am
You will have the start of your ox team.
Ox teams are making a comeback in the US.
Your oxen will need a yoke, start carving.
December 19th, 2009 at 2:48 am
A beautiful heifer.
December 19th, 2009 at 3:03 am
I say a little heifer!
December 19th, 2009 at 3:11 am

Boy. Whatever it is I hope you don’t eat it.
December 19th, 2009 at 7:21 am
I’m thinking a bull calf–no idea why. Regardless of gender, I’m just hoping it will be strong and healthy! Thanks so much for letting us peer in through the window of your life, as it were….
December 19th, 2009 at 7:28 am
Just as long as it’s a healthy, thriving calf - I hope you got a boy so you will have a Pull Bull later on. LOL. Sure hope the special present for the lucky winner is NOT the placenta. LMAO
FYI, we had the first lamb of the season - BaaBaa Walters lambed with John’s help; the front legs were tucked under the head so he got his hands around the neck and gently pulled. The lamb was alive when we left mom and baby, and the ram who was guarding BaaBaa for some reason. No idea if it got to nurse; we will check today. BaaBaa is an experienced mom so we hope all is well.
Send pictures when you have time!
December 19th, 2009 at 8:19 am
A girl! =D
December 19th, 2009 at 8:27 am
Boy or girl? Yes! :o)
December 19th, 2009 at 9:02 am
Oh, Shreve! How unbelievably exciting…think you need the laundry now, just wait ’till you’ve finished birthing.
It would be lovely to have your plow cow (it’s such a fun concept), so I opt
for a boy.
December 19th, 2009 at 9:19 am
My guess is a little bull calf. Then he can go onto to be your oxen. Isn’t that what oxen are……..big ole steers? Good Luck and Merry Christmas from Idaho!!!
December 19th, 2009 at 9:28 am
Oh Boy! I guess Boy!
December 19th, 2009 at 9:31 am
Hey,
Girl, I’m going with a Christmas (or close enough) girl - you can call her Noel (noEL).
(Of course, if its a boy you can still call him Noel (NOel), so you’re good either way, but my guess is girl.

December 20th, 2009 at 12:59 am
Daisy is such a good Momma. As long as it’s healthy, then it doesn’t matter. Though if I have to pick one I say female. Here’s hoping all goes well and your new family member brings even more joy into your life. I can’t wait to see the pictures.
Cheers!
D in FL

Good luck Daisy and Frisco
December 23rd, 2009 at 1:46 pm
I’ve been out of touch lately and am sorry for that…jury duty, etc. As I see it there’s the boy side: Eli, Charlie, Ranger, Baby and now Frisco (we San Franciscans take exception to our CITY being called “Frisco”…your newest baby’s name is okay cuz he’s a bull!!!). The girl side: Chloe, Daisy and Flicka. Those are alot of babies for you to care for…how do you manage? The happiest of holidays to you, dear Shreve…
December 24th, 2009 at 3:46 pm
I believe it will be a female to help balance out the male to female ratio. Good luck and stay warm and toasty!
Season’s Blessings!
