    Also, re: your Eli tweet: One of my dogs will hump a pillow until he’s exhausted and can’t do it anymore. It’s a particular pillow, and he doesn’t do it with anything else. He’s the only animal I’ve ever seen forge such a sustained relationship with an inanimate object.

    Re Eli: Over the years, I had two neutered (!) male cats who did this. One with an afghan, the other with a little stuffed King Moonracer. They both had a routine and did it at about the same time every night. Then they’d settle in. Every night. It was a bit odd. Needless to say, they gained total ownership of each of their “beloved” objects.
