I see why Charlie has so much red in his coat, it’s hard to see him against the background. The coyotes here are much grey/browner.

I can see what is meant in the book “The Daily Coyote” by Shreve Stockton, where she mentions that Charlie changes colour to camaflouge. In this photo he is blending with the land but, he is not so red in all of the photos. In some of them he seems to have more grey in him.
