Wild Rumpus

OK, these photos aren’t the greatest, but the moment was so funny….
I was not throwing the stuffie to Charlie for him to catch; both my hands were on my camera. He was tossing it in the air and catching it,
over and over, all by himself!

This reminds me of the video of the dog playing fetch with himself. He would let the ball roll down the hill, chase it, then bring it back up the hill and do it again.

I guess if they don’t have a partner, they find ways to play by themselves.

My dog would do this with an old plastic flower pot. I used to toss it for him for play, but one day I came home from work and he was tossing it himself. He’d still let me play with him a bit but mostly he would play with his pot by himself.

It’s wonderful seeing Charlie displaying such play behavior.

He obviously feels safe and secure. Without the need to hunt for food everyday he has leisure time to indulge in play. And I guess it’s easier to invent his own game than to hunt down the tall furless coyote that walks on her two hind legs and convince her to stop what she’s doing and play kill the stuffie.

I hope he and Chloe still play together.
