Shreve, have there been situations where Charlie had the time to warm up to a stranger, and how long does it tend to take?

A ~ Nope… he has a very distinct territorial bark and tells all strangers to get the heck out of his sight, and doesn’t stop until they leave!

Does that mean he’s over the “running away and watching from a distance” phase with regards to when strangers show up?

A ~ He’s only seen if he wants to be seen. And I go to great lengths to make sure strangers don’t “show up” – we have both been traumatized by that happening in the past and I assumed you meant situations like my parents visiting, etc.

what a picture!! related to your point of him being seen only if he wants to be seen – i went to a lecture by my county mammal expert for the county parks system – he was studying the prevalence of coyotes in the county – in over 20 years, he’d only seen them 3 times and he knew where they were, the good times of the day to have the best chance to find them, etc. i hike many of the same areas – i always wonder if I’m being watched. I did see one walking across a semi-frozen creek when i was driving over a bridge – so happy to see him/her!
